Eva Roxanna Wampler of Scranton

Eva Roxanna Wampler, age 98, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Oak View in Conrad, IA, with her daughter Patricia at her side.

     Funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Scranton United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating.  Music for the service will be Cheryl Nailor.  Casket bearers will be Eva’s grandchildren and honorary casket bearers will be her great-grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held at the Scranton United Methodist Church from 2 – 3 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday.

     Eva was born on December 4, 1923 in Minnesota, and she was the daughter of Harold Curtis and Roxanna Moriah (Rudkin) Gray.  She grew up in the Carroll-Glidden-Scranton area and graduated from Scranton High School in 1940.  Eva worked in a grocery store and did bookkeeping following high school.  She was married to Lloyd Raymond Wampler on April 2, 1943 at the Scranton United Methodist Church in a double wedding with her sister Hazel and Doc Christensen.  Eva and Lloyd farmed south of Scranton their entire married life for which she accepted Century Farm recognition in 2019.  She was very active with the farming operation and her passion was quilting.  Eva was a member of the Scranton United Methodist Church and held various offices over the years.  She was also a member of the Heartfelt Quilters, Red Hat Society, and Wednesday Club.

     Eva is survived by her daughter Patricia Follett (William) of Union; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Steinfeldt (William) of Iowa Falls, Neil Follett of Conrad, Amelia Versteegh of Oxford, Kent Follett (Rachel Fulton) of Union, Hilary Williams (Andrew) of Tiffin, Emily Hoyt (Robert) of Scranton, and Raymond Wampler (Elizabeth) of Scranton; eleven great-grandchildren: Logan (Andrea), Lorren, Grant, Coulter, Jordan, Olivia, Mason, Ryan, Layla, Bromley, and Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.

    Eva was preceded in death by her parents Harold Gray and Roxanna Gray-Tillier; her step-father Al Tillier; her father and mother-in-law Earl and Maude Wampler; her sister Hazel Christensen (Doc); her husband Lloyd in 1988; son Harold Wampler in 2006; and daughter Linda Dunahoo 2011.
