Several farmers in the listening area gathered in Churdan today (Friday) and expressed their concerns about Landus Cooperative closing facilities within the region. Perry Parker, a farmer from Churdan and former President of the Greene County Farm Bureau, attended the meeting and expressed his concerns about the closing.
Landus representatives were in attendance at the meeting, and Parker says they will go back and look at the numbers to see if they can keep the Co-op open. Parker adds he hopes that Landus will keep the Co-op open in a couple of weeks or find something else to do with it.
Parker states that if the Co-op closes in Churdan, the town does not have anything to fall back on because it is the most significant tax base in the community. There is another meeting scheduled between the two sides in two weeks. Carroll Broadcasting reached out to Landus but did not hear anything back.
