Larry Allen Trent, age 87, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family.

Larry was born September 21, 1934, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Harold Miller Trent and Florence (Marshall) Trent. He grew living in Pittsburgh, Johnstown, and Listie, PA.
He graduated from Somerset Township High School in 1952. Since he was the tallest in his class and the school then closed in 1952, he liked to say he was “the last person to ever receive a diploma from STHS.”
He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed in Germany.
He moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 1955 where he worked at Ford Motor Company and as a policeman for Dearborn Police Department. Larry married Arlene (Burns) Trent on April 23, 1960. He graduated from Henry Ford College with a business degree. He then worked for Champion Spark Plug as a Quality Control Manager, he was transferred to Burlington, Iowa, in 1978. In 1986, he moved to Carroll, Iowa, where he completed his working years at Pella Corporation as Quality Control Manager and Door Line Manager. In 1996, he retired and moved to Las Vegas where he enjoyed 26 years of retirement. He and his wife, Arlene, enjoyed traveling and taking cruises all around the world including London, Paris, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama, and many more. Larry was a big fan of University of Michigan football and basketball. While watching games, you could often hear Larry cheer, “Go Blue, Baby!”
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Burns) Trent. He is also survived by 3 children, David (Mary) Trent, Jennifer Trent, and Amy (Mel) Gonnerman, and 5 grandchildren, Marshall, Gaston and Genessa Gonnerman and Tyler and Elizabeth Trent. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Shirley Trent Williams and Susan Trent of Friedens, Pennsylvania; and a sister in law, Carolyn Burns of Traverse City, Michigan.
