May 2022 unemployment figures for the seven-county region were almost unchanged from April, according to data released today (Tuesday) by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). Carroll County maintained the lowest rate in the area at 1.6% unemployment, a 0.1% increase from the previous month but 1.8 percentage points lower than a year ago. Sac County recorded the second-lowest rate in the region at 1.7%, a 0.1% decrease from last month. Greene County’s rate climbed slightly to 1.8%, tied with Audubon County’s figures. Calhoun County remained at 2%, while Guthrie County ticked up slightly to 2.2% in May. Crawford County recorded the highest unemployment rate for the region at 3.1% but did see some improvement from the 3.2% rate measured in April. Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May 2022 was 2.7%, while the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.6%. A link to IWD’s unemployment figures can be found included below.
