An Omaha man was taken into custody Tuesday evening after allegedly stealing the Kuemper baseball team’s bus from the parking lot of their sub state game in Council Bluffs. According to the Council Bluffs Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:24 p.m. to the area near the Thomas Jefferson baseball field in response to a report of a charter bus that had been taken. A short time and distance later, authorities conducted a traffic stop on the motor coach and arrested 42-year-old Jamar Lesha Hill. He was arrested and charged with first-degree theft of a motor vehicle, a class C felony, and driving while disqualified, a simple misdemeanor. Hill was transported to the Pottawattamie County Jail, where he remained in custody on Thursday morning on a more than $10,500 bond. Kuemper did win their game to advance to the state tournament, 6-2, but were delayed in their return to Carroll Tuesday night.
