Chance was born October 17, 1979 in Carroll, Iowa to Linda Moorman-Thelen and Mark Thelen.  He was the youngest of seven children.  He was a ladies’ man from the very beginning; with his mother and sisters doting on the adorable boy with blonde hair and the most beautiful green eyes.  He loved being outdoors on the farm and taking care of all of the animals.  As a child, Chance enjoyed mastering Mario Brothers and being playfully mischievous with his sisters, their friends and boyfriends.  He was interested in electronics and stereo equipment and once re-wired his entire bedroom.  He loved music and created many memories “jamming out” with his siblings and children.

Chance had a strong work ethic and owned a Flooring and Home Remodeling business for many years.  He could do anything and everything.  He was also a great mechanic who enjoyed working on cars and trucks.  He was recently employed at Hy-Vee as a Warehouse Manager; a job which he loved.

Chance was referred to by many as a fine young man.  He had a magnetic and charming personality, a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh.  Chance had an easy-going nature, but would admit that he did inherit the family trait of stubbornness.  He loved adventure and he was always willing to help others.  He was an avid fisherman who was always accompanied by his loyal dog, Rowdy.  He was proud of a recently caught 39 lb catfish and a 27” walleye.  But he was most proud of his three children and would consider them his greatest accomplishment. He will be watching over them always.

Chance is survived by his three children and three grandchildren: his son, Shane (Lexi) & Piper; his daughter, Lexus (Brian) Rion & Raelyn and son, Acian “Ace”; his parents and siblings, Greg, Stacie, Stefanie and Angela and many other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Geraldine & Voshel Moorman; paternal grandparents, Fred & Matilda Thelen; sister, Ronda Lee Downey and brother, Douglas Wiederin.

Chance was very loved and will be missed greatly.  “Between the hello and the goodbye, there was love; so much love”.
