Fuel Prices Down Nearly A Dime From Last Week, But Natural Gas Jumps More Than A Dollar

Fuel prices in Iowa dropped nearly a dime over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, July 13, the cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $4.46 across the state, down 12 cents from last week but still $1.48 higher than a year ago. The national average was 22 cents over Iowa prices at $4.63 per gallon. Iowa diesel prices dropped nine cents in the last seven days and are down to $5.27 per gallon. This is $2.16 higher than 12 months ago, but Iowa prices still came in well below the national average, which stood at $5.61. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16 per gallon, and natural gas prices jumped more than a dollar at the Henry Hub reporting site to $6.71 per MMBtu.
