Sunny Skies Forecast This Weekend For Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope Fundraiser

The second annual Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope fundraiser near Mt. Carmel for the St. Anthony Cancer Center is set for this weekend. One of its organizers, Mark Nepple, says the weather and fields are looking great for Sunday’s event, despite the storms that blew through earlier this week.

The Nepple family hosted an impromptu fundraiser last year and raised over $8,000 for the cancer center used to support local patients. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Nepple’s acreage at 19813 140th Street, attendees can pick up a bouquet of fresh-cut sunflowers and take photos of the colorful field. Nepple says they expanded on the fundraiser a bit from last year.

The Nepples have been touched by cancer multiple times, and they thought anything they could do to help others would be worth it, but they never expected the fundraiser to be so popular. He says they did not set a hard fundraising target for this year, but the goal is to raise more than last year. They understand not everyone will be able to attend Sunday’s gathering, but Nepple says there are other ways for people to support the Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope fundraiser.

Those alternate donation methods can also be found included with this story on our website. Money raised from Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope goes to the St. Anthony Cancer Center to be used to support the facility via patient assistance, staff retention, and more.
