Joleen Ann Wallace, age 85, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Jim Tigges as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur as pianist and Greg Carey as Cantor with the Carey Family. Lector for the Mass will be Nicole Vogel and Janell Anderson. Eucharistic Minister will be Michelle Schreck. Gift bearers will be Joleen’s granddaughters: Jessica Kavanaugh, Krystal Lynch, Amber Wengert, Megan Wallace, and Gretchen Wallace. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Eric Vogel, Jacob Wallace, Colby Wallace, Jackson Greteman, Joe Kavanaugh, Brandon Lynch, Seth Wengert, and Davis Parcher. The St. Anthony Nurse’s Alumni Association will form an honor guard at the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Willey.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Rosary at 5:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Joleen was born on February 28, 1937 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of George and Barbara (Scharfenkamp) Tigges. She grew up on her family’s farm near Willey and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1955 and then attended St. Anthony School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony Regional Hospital for 36 years. Joleen was married to Don Wallace on January 31, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey. The couple made their home on a farm west of Churdan and later rural Glidden where they farmed and raised their children. Joleen was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and she taught Religion at Churdan, Glidden and St. Lawrence. She was a hard worker and devoted mother and grandmother.
Joleen is survived by her children and their families: son Brad Wallace (Diane) of rural Jefferson, daughter Annete Vogel (Ron) of Lohrville, son Rich Wallace (Amy) of Carroll, son Chris Wallace (Jen) of Scranton, and daughter Amy Parcher (Brad) of Slater; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Denis Tigges (Joyce) of Carroll and Fr. Jim Tigges of Ft. Dodge; brother-in-law David Wallace of Coon Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Joleen was preceded in death by her parents George and Barbara Tigges; a sister Roberta “Bertie” Tigges; a brother David Tigges; and a sister-in-law Marlene Wallace.
