The Carroll Community Theatre is bringing the end of the world to town for four days only starting tomorrow (Thursday) with the premiere of the apocalyptic musical, Margie Saves the World. The original work from director and writer, Molly Lappe, is a change of pace from the community theatre’s previous productions. The musical follows the tale of Margie, the last human on an Earth filled with supernatural creatures, as she tries to prevent an apocalyptic event. Joewie Heithoff plays the lead character and explains the context of the plot.
The show features an original musical score. Alex Danner, who plays the rocker Stephen Dreamcatcher, says the songs and themes are clearly inspired by the 80s.
The cast and crew started preparing for Margie Saves the World at the beginning of May, and they have spent countless hours putting together their wardrobes, memorizing their lines, and practicing their dance routines. Danner says everybody is looking forward to bringing the show to life Thursday night.
All shows are at the Carroll Recreation Center. The Thursday, Friday, and Saturday productions begin at 7 p.m., and then there is a matinee scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the door or in advance online using the link included below.
