The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors has decided to make some changes to the county’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at their Tuesday meeting. EMS workers are unhappy with the changes, and Supervisor, Scott Becker, explains what they have come up with.
He adds that workers were originally paid a full rate during their whole shift. 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. is the sleep time scheduled for EMS work. Becker says if they get called out during sleep time, they will get paid a total rate while in the field.
Becker adds there are some exceptions to the new changes.
During sleep time, workers will be paid half their hourly rate, and Becker says they are trying to find a happy medium.
He adds it hurts when individuals are on the receiving end of these kinds of changes, and the Supervisors are looking out for the county and the taxpayers trying to make them happy too.
