The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education again discussed the use of charter bus services for extracurricular activities at last nights (Monday) meeting. The board addressed this topic at their meeting in July after community members question when and how teams could use charter buses for playoff games. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says that policy 712 oversees student transportation and is what school officials use when these situations are brought up. Board President Cindy Johnson echoed Berlau’s comments. She says they need to stick with policy 712 to reflect that it is the district’s decision.
Johnson adds the school bus is being driven by school employees transporting students while paying customers are using a charter bus. Johnson says the policy does not need changed.
The rest of the board agreed with Johnson and Berlau’s remarks about charter bus usage. The board did not take action on this topic and will likely vote on it at their August 22 meeting.
