Born in Nebraska on March 29, 1938, Madonna moved to the Carroll area while in grade school and graduated from St Angela’s academy where she made life-long friends.  Madonna married Ron Riesberg shortly after graduation and became loving mother to five children – Julie (Austin TX), Jeff (Leslie) (Kansas City), Doug (Carroll), Jane (Scott) (Seattle) and Linn (Nathan) (Tulsa).  She took great pleasure in her twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  A proud and loyal Catholic, Madonna lived a life of faith, prayer and service at St Lawrence and Holy Spirt parishes and in the past years could be found saying the rosary each morning at St Anthony Nursing home.
Madonna remained very close to her 9 siblings and often shared lively and funny stories of her childhood.   She was ready to reunite with her mom, dad and six siblings in heaven and leaves behind three beloved brothers and a sister-in-law – Jack (Kathy) Ramaekers, Tom Ramaekers and Walter Ramaekers.
Madonna was humble and sometimes questioned her contribution, but if life is measured on love, friendship, faith, hard work and conviction, Madonna’s positive impact will be long-lasting and live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
While we will miss Madonna’s quick wit, laugh and colorful conversations, we take comfort knowing she is in the loving presence of Christ, the Blessed Virgin and family/friends who have prepared the way for her.
Madonna’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Anthony Nursing Home for their exceptional care.
