Fuel prices in Iowa maintained their downward trajectory over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Aug. 10, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.62, a 19-cent drop from last week but still 62 cents higher than a year ago. The national average dipped by 15 cents from a week ago to $4.01 per gallon. Diesel prices in Iowa were down by 14 cents to a statewide average of $4.75 per gallon, which is 35 cents below the U.S. average. Twelve months ago, Iowa’s mean diesel price was $3.14 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16, while natural gas prices spiked 57 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $8.26 per MMBtu.
