The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution during their meeting Monday to support the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) Human Trafficking Coalition. The proposal was first brought to the board last week, but the supervisors wanted to familiarize themselves with the program before backing it. Board Chair, Stephanie Hausman, shared the opening language of the proclamation.
The Human Trafficking Coalition offers training and assistance in helping local businesses and victims find support and resources. This includes the Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT) program, which enables companies to educate employees, customers, and industry partners on the signs and impact of human trafficking in Iowa. The coalition also encourages victims to seek help through the Iowa Secretary of State’s Safe at Home program.
The board encourages Carroll County residents to take advantage of available resources and educate themselves on human trafficking by visiting ibat.iowa.gov or safeathome.iowa.gov.
