Margaret “Peggy” Polking of Carroll

Margaret “Peggy” Polking, 79 of Carroll, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022 at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott.  Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Gift Bearers will be Peggy’s grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Peggy’s family. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.  Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 on Thursday at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Peggy’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Peggy was born on May 27, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas and Marie (Smith) McCoy. She greatly enjoyed spending her summers at “the shore” in Ocean City, New Jersey. She then attended Catholic University of America in Washington DC where she earned a degree in nursing, and met her husband, William Polking. They were married on November 25, 1967 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havertown, Pennsylvania. Peggy worked as a nurse in Washington, DC and then in Carroll, Iowa. She spent many years as a case manager for Carroll County mental health services. Peggy also taught CCRE for a number of years to various grade levels.
Survivors include her children, Ann (Michael) Vincent, William G. Polking, Jr., and Chris (Thetia) Polking, all of Carroll; grandchildren Colby Vincent, McKenna Vincent, Cooper
Vincent, Sophia Polking, Jameson Polking, Quinten Polking, and Kieran Polking. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William G. Polking, and her brother Tom McCoy.  The family extends their sincere gratitude to all who helped with Peggy's care over the last two years at Regency Park, Addington Place, St. Anthony Hospital, and St. Anthony Nursing Home.
