CCSD Board Of Education Looking At Facility Upgrades Following Monday’s Meeting

It is in the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education’s hands now as they look to do facility upgrades. At Monday’s meeting an architectural firm the DLR Group presented their findings after the district hired them to do a facility study. DLR did studies on all four schools, along with the transportation building near Fairview Elementary. The design firm meet with board members, parents, students, and committees to hear what they thought needs upgraded. DLR says these are just suggestions, and there is no single path forward. The first building discussed was Fairview Elementary.

The firm adds this is a long-range plan, and nothing is set in stone. One big topic was retiring Adams Elementary and moving the district office to a different location. DLR says the middle school needs some work done to the media center and the athletic spaces.

The high school had more projects listed, but most involved renovations and expansions. Some proposed ideas include adding a district office, expanding the commons area, renovating the locker rooms, adding a new weight and fitness room, and more. The last building the firm went over was the transportation building, and DLR says this building received the lowest scores across nine categories.

It is unclear if the board will do anything with these suggestions, as no action was taken at Monday’s meeting.
