Fuel prices made only modest moves over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Aug. 24, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.56 across the state, a three-cent drop from last week’s prices but 57 cents higher than last year. The national average on Wednesday dropped six cents to $3.88 per gallon. Diesel prices were up one cent to $4.72 per gallon. Currently, state prices are 26 cents below the $4.98 national average but $1.57 higher than a year ago. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16 per gallon. Natural gas prices were stable at the Henry Hub reporting site, climbing just one cent to $9.27 per MMBtu.
