Carroll County Supervisors Schedule Meetings In Mt. Carmel And Maple River To Discuss Future Road Maintenance Plans

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors has set the dates and times for two upcoming town hall meetings in Maple River and Mt. Carmel to allow residents to voice their concerns regarding issues in the two unincorporated communities. Both meetings are scheduled for the week of Sept. 19: Maple River on Tuesday, Sept. 20 and Mt. Carmel on Thursday, Sept. 22. District 2 Supervisor Dean Schettler says the main topic for these town halls will be in-town road maintenance.

Because Mt. Carmel and Maple River are not incorporated, maintenance falls under the county’s jurisdiction. It has been years since any substantial construction was completed in either community, but the Carroll County Engineer’s Office has completed regular seal coating work in both towns. However, this is a somewhat messy process that has led to complaints from residents. Schettler says County Engineer Zac Andersen has researched potential options and is ready to present his findings.

The board supported hosting the town hall meetings, and they indicated it is a topic that is brought up frequently by residents. The Sept. 20 Maple River meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the park shelter house. The Sept. 22 Mt. Carmel meeting also starts at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish hall. While the primary focus is road maintenance, the supervisors note that residents are invited to bring any other items of concern to these town halls. Tentative agendas for the meetings can be found included with this story on our website.
