Doneta Linquist of Sac City

Doneta Kay Linquist, age 85, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Emanuel–St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, IA, with Pastor Ben Worley officiating.  Casket bearers will be will be Doneta’s grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery near Lytton.
Visitation will be held at Emanuel Lutheran–St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10–10:45 A.M. prior to the service.

Doneta was born on October 9, 1936 on her family’s farm north of Scranton, IA, and she was the daughter of Lowell and LaVerne (Cochran) Eason.  She grew up on a farm near Churdan and graduated from Churdan High School in 1955.  Doneta was married to Lawrence Linquist on April 22, 1956 at the Kendrick Friends Church near Scranton.  The couple made their home on a farm north of Sac City where they raised their family and were both very active in the farming operation.  Doneta also operated a gift shop on her farm where she sold her paintings and corn husk dolls which were featured on the Home Shopping Network.  She also sold the dolls which were made of her own pattern.  Doneta loved her family and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Doneta is survived by her three children: Ricky Linquist (Laurel) of Fonda, Rhonda Remillard (Loren) of Spencer, and Amy Healy (Randy) of Denison; her grandchildren: Kelly Linquist of Sommers, Mindi Van Houten (Justin) of Melvin, IA, Jason Remillard (Angie) of Spencer, Andrew Henson (Whitney) of Kansas City, MO, and Jessica Hammen (Josh) of Twin Lakes; thirteen great-grandchildren; her sisters: Donna Gerdes of Ralston, Ramona Johnson of Plant City, FL, Marcella Van Horn of Surprise, AZ, Mardell Shipley of Audubon, and Karen Brown of Panora; two half-sisters Marilyn and Marjorie of North Carolina; a sister-in-law Anne Galbraith of Sac City; and many nieces and nephews.
Doneta was preceded in death by her father Lowell Eason (Juanita); her mother LaVerne Brown (Wesley); her mother and father-in-law Ed and Matilda Linquist; two sisters: Velma Henning (Ivan) and Roberta Noyes, and her husband Lawrence in 2015.
