Starting in September, a new food pantry option will be available for any Carroll County resident. The Tiger Cupboard will officially begin handing out food on Wednesday, September 7, and Carroll Middle School’s Juvenile Court Liaison Hunter Harmening says they will be open the first and third Wednesday of every month. He says the Food Bank of Iowa provides the food out of Des Moines. Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio
Harmening is on a region round table for the Food Bank of Iowa, which is how this program started.
The Tiger Cupboard is not just for Carroll Community School District families, and it is open to anyone in the community. The food pantry is located at the middle school and will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. every first and third Wednesday of each month. No proof of income is required to receive items. However, individuals must fill out a brief form on their first visit. Harmening says he is excited that this is something they can offer to families in the community.
When the Tiger Cupboard opens, it will be the third food pantry in the community. Harmening adds that if individuals have trouble making the scheduled times for pick up, they can contact him and work something out. Harmening’s contact points can be found included with this story on our website.
