Senator Chuck Grassley and District 4 Representative Randy Feenstra met with Iowa agriculture group leaders for a Monday roundtable in Lake City. The main topic was the upcoming farm bill. Grassley says he appreciates the opportunity to speak directly with Iowa’s farmers and producers about issues that matter to them as they look ahead to another farm bill.
The current farm bill expires in 2023. Feenstra says Iowa is the bread basket of the world when it comes to agriculture production.
Grassley says the main thing he hears regarding the upcoming farm bill is keeping crop insurance along with many other programs.
Grassley adds that there will be some new things on the next farm bill, but he cannot point anything out at this time. Feenstra says the main part is protecting the producers.
Leaders from the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Dairy Association, and more attended Monday’s roundtable. Monday’s stop in Lake City was a part of Grassley’s 99 county tours.
