Last week, Senator Chuck Grassley celebrated the final stop on his 42nd consecutive annual 99-county tour. The 88-year-old senator wrapped up 2022’s cycle with a constituent meeting in Bedford in Taylor County. According to Grassley, Iowans throughout the state have been consistent on the concerns they are bringing to him. The most common being worries about lasting high inflation and the rising cost of living. He says rural Iowa was hit particularly hard by the soaring price of fuel over the past 18 months, leading to higher prices for food and other essentials. Grassley has visited all 99 counties every year since he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1981. He is running for reelection for his seventh term. His Democrat challenger is retired Navy Vice Admiral Mike Franken.
