Housing has been an issue across the state, and the City of Audubon just received news that a developer will be building apartments in town. Audubon County Economic Development (ACED) Business and Tourism Coordinator Sara Slater says ACED is also in the 13th year of their Audubon Housing Fund Program designed to bring homes to the city.
The Iowa Finance Authority has awarded MCC Development of Iowa, LLC a Housing tax credit for the project in Audubon and will begin construction soon. The project will be 35 new units in town. Slater adds the Housing Fund Program is different than the tax credit.
Slater says they never have a specific idea on what to build using the housing funds it is just based on what they think the City of Audubon needs. Audubon’s tax credit is very similar to the one the City of Carroll was just awarded. For more information on the Audubon Housing Fund or the tax credit, individuals can contact ACED at 712-563-2742.
