The Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched yesterday (Tuesday) for a report of an individual using counterfeit money. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred at Beer Thirty in Storm Lake. Upon arrival, officers spoke with employees who alleged 21-year-old Melissa Menisor attempted to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill. Authorities seized the fake money, and after further investigation, Menisor reported she was provided the bill by a 16-year-old juvenile who was accompanying her. Both Menisor and the juvenile male were taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was issued a referral for forgery, a class D felony, and was released to a parent pending an appearance in juvenile court. Menisor was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where she was charged with forgery, a class D felony. Menisor is being held on a $5,000 bond. The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are possible.
