Connie Kay (Knight) Fontanini of Carroll

Connie Kay (Knight) Fontanini, age 75, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll with her two sons at her side.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Carroll with Rev. Rikki Sorensen officiating.    Casket bearers will be Dan Dreesen, Jeff Irlbeck, Duane Hoover, Dean Hoover, Ned Johnston, and Ted Johnston.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

   Visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll from 1 – 2 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday.

     Connie was born on August 13, 1947 in Jefferson, IA, and she was the daughter of Warren and Lillian (Temple) Knight.  She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1965.  She attended the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines following high school.  Connie was married to Robert Fontanini in February of 1969.  To this union two children were born: Robert Jr. “Bobby” and Todd.  The family lived in Des Moines for two years before moving to North Carolina where she worked as a hairdresser and sold real estate.  The couple divorced in 1989 and she moved back to Carroll to be near her family and care for her parents.  Connie worked at American Home Shield for 22 years.  Connie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll.  Connie loved and cherished every moment spent with her five grandchildren.

     Connie is survived by her two sons and their families: Bobby Fontanini (Jennifer) of Lampasas, TX, and Todd Fontanini (Ronica) of Apex, NC; five grandchildren: Jeffrey Fontanini, Weston Clark, and Ashtyn, Bella, and Sophia Fontanini; two sisters: Debbie  Hargens of Glidden and Paula Knight of Victoria, TX; her good friend Kim Irlbeck of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

     Connie was preceded in death by her parents Warren and Lil Knight and her brother-in-law Jerry Hargens.
