Fuel prices in Iowa were mostly stable over the past week, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Sept. 14, a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.46 across the state. Prices were up three cents from a week ago and 46 cents higher than this time last year. The national average on Wednesday stood at $3.70 per gallon, down six cents on the week. Iowa retail diesel prices dipped five cents to $4.86 per gallon. Diesel is still $1.76 more per gallon than in September 2021. Iowa diesel remains 14 cents below the national average of $5.00 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16 per gallon. Natural gas prices jumped 96 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $8.81 per MMBtu. With summer coming to a close, the Iowa Department of Agriculture will soon begin reporting weekly moves in retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa.
