Last week Sauk Rail Trail supporters gathered together to give feedback and discuss changes that could be coming to a portion of the trail in Sac County. The meeting was on September 14 at the Conservation Center in Hagge Park, and Sac County Conservation Director Chris Bass says it was a brainstorming and informational meetings
The Iowa Department of Natural Recourses (DNR) has indicated they would like to see the trail that sits on the dike portion be turned into a gravel surface instead of concrete.
Bass says most people would like to see this portion of the trail remain the same as it has been for 25 years.
Bass says this issue does not need to be brought to the city council or board of supervisors. He adds that the next step is for the Sauk Rail Trail supporters to speak up and make sure their voice is heard.
