Gregory Perrien of Altoona formerly of Carroll

Gregory Alan Perrien, age 48, of Altoona, IA, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2022.

     Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Denison.

    Visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday from 9:30 –10:45 A.M. prior to the service.

     Greg was born on March 30,  1974 in Omaha, Ne, and he was the son of Paul and Sharon (Weitl) Perrien.  He was one of five children; the fourth of five boys.  Greg was raised in Carroll, IA, where he eventually married Holly Richardson and became a father to their two children Kaitlyn and Bryce. Greg later married Kris Frost and together they enjoyed their lives with the addition of her two children Slade and Gauge for 15 years.  Greg’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he made sure everyone knew how much he loved his family.  Greg had a special way with children and leaves many wonderful memories for them to hold on to.  An avid Hawkeye fan and lover of all sports, Greg was a dedicated wrestling follower and enjoyed celebrating the Hawks many wins. Not only was Greg dedicated to his family and the Hawkeyes, but he was a devoted friend and employee to all those who worked with him in his lengthy career at SCI communications. Greg attributed much of his success to his great friends and colleagues Dean and Jerry.  Greg loved deeply and was known to have fun wherever he went; he will be greatly missed for a lot of things, but most notably his heart and his smile.

    Survivors include his children and their families: Kaitlyn (Michael) Riesselman of Halbur, Bryce Perrien of Greenville, NC, and Gauge Perrien of Mobile, AL; his loving grandsons Ryker and Dawson Riesselman, his mother Sharon Perrien of Lake View, his brothers Chad Perrien (Lindsay) of Grimes and Jeff Perrien (Jan) of Odebolt; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who’s lives he has touched.

     Greg was preceded in death and is surrounded in love by his dad Paul(PJ) Perrien, brothers Tony and Todd Perrien and Grandparents Fred and Betty Weitl.
