According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, movement in Iowa gas and diesel prices was muted over the past week. As of Wednesday, Sept. 28, the cost of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.63 per gallon, a three-cent rise from last week and 62 cents higher than one year ago. The national average on Wednesday was up nine cents to $3.77 per gallon. Retail diesel averaged $4.70 per gallon, down seven cents from last week but $1.54 higher than last year’s price. The national average was $4.88 per gallon on Wednesday. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16 while natural gas prices plunged at the Henry Hub reporting site by 91 cents to $6.93 per MMBtu.
