The City of Breda has been named the first-ever Iowa League of Cities Walking Challenge winner. According to Chase Langos, a marketing communications strategist with the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, the Carroll County Community took the top spot by having the highest percentage of its residents register to participate in the statewide walk this week.

That prize is $1,000 from the Healthiest State Initiative, which will be used to fund a yet-to-be-determined project in the community that will help residents get up and get active.

The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative was founded over a decade ago to improve Iowans’ overall wellness. Langos says the program waned somewhat during the pandemic, but they hope to get back on track with 2022’s walk.
