Carol Kitt, 75 of Dedham, died Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Lectors for the Funeral Mass will be Jon Kitt and Andra Martens. Gift Bearers will be Hannah Rowedder, Maeve Kitt, and Hattie Kitt. Eucharistic Minister will be Joleen Schulz. Casket Bearers will be Nick Hidlebaugh, Chris Kitt, Austin Kitt, Alan Jubell, Clint Jubell and Drake Martens. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Carol was born on December 9, 1946, in Carroll, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Luella (Golwitzer) Bedford. She attended St. Joseph’s School and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1964. On April 26, 1969, she was united in marriage to Eugene Kitt at St. Joseph’s Church in Dedham. To this union were four children. Carol worked several part-time jobs while raising her children including nights at Garst Seeds, daycare for friends and neighbors, later working as lead cook at the Carroll Health Center until her retirement.
Carol was an avid reader, enjoyed country music, playing cards, singing, coffee clubs and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She made many quilts with her mother and continued to after her mother’s passing. Carol also was a gifted knitter and crocheter, passing this talent on to her granddaughters.
Carol is survived by her children: Jean (Dennis) Hidlebaugh of Rippey, Jerry (Sara) Kitt of Carroll, Julie (Clint) Jubell of Grimes and Jon (Amber) Kitt of Carroll; 8 grandchildren: Cody (Jackie) Hidlebaugh, Nick Hidlebaugh, Hannah Rowedder, Andra (Drake) Martens, Austin Kitt, Alan Jubell, Hattie Kitt, and Maeve Kitt; 2 great-grandchildren, Lane Hidlebaugh and Rebecca Hidlebaugh; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bennier of Washington State and Theresa Kitt of Dedham; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene in 2020; and her brother Charles Bedford.
