Barb Wieland of Carroll

Barb Wieland, 81 of Carroll, died Thursday, October 20, 2022, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott, assisted by Deacon Dave Prenger. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and the St. John Paul II Choir. Lector will be Frank Comito. Gift Bearers will be Barb’s grandchildren. Eucharistic Minister will be Mary Jo Wieland. Casket Bearers will be Nick Kirsch, Ryan Hagge, Sean Hicks, Brady Burkheimer, Brett Burkheimer, and Dan McLean. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian Wake Service will be at 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. on Monday at the church.

Born on December 7, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa, Barb was the daughter of Edwin and Marcella (Wiese) Johnson. She spent the majority of her life in the Manning community, where she graduated from Manning High School. Throughout her working career, Barb worked in several capacities as an LPN and Substance Abuse Counselor at Manning General Hospital, Area 12, and Carroll Area Nursing Services. On November 25, 2000, Barb was united in marriage to George Wieland.
She enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, drives around Swan Lake, and spending time with her family. Barb was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll.
Barb is survived by her husband George Wieland of Carroll; her children: Doug (Pam) Hicks of Thurman, Delia Osborne of Westside, Darsi Kautzky (Michael Boles) of Gilmore City, Dan Hicks of Carroll, and Marcella (Kevin) Burkheimer of Ames; 6 grandchildren: Melissa and Dan McLean, Sean and Ellen, Ryan and Heather, Nick and Cory Beagle, Brady, and Brett; 8 great-grandchildren: Danica, Keaton, Jacqueline, Andrew, Kylie, Zoey, Bryson, and Harlow; her sisters-in-law, Barbara (Phil) Hamblen, Kathy Wieland of Carroll and Mary Jo Wieland of Carroll; as well as other extended relatives.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her grandchildren, Brandon Hagge and Laura Kautzky; great-granddaughter, Andrea Kautzky; her sister, Kathy Moore; and her parents-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Wieland.
