A local women’s organization invites area residents to join them tonight (Wednesday) as two Carroll County natives share tales of chasing their goals. The Dreams & Desserts program is hosted by the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O) and features Iowa Court of Appeals Judge Gina Badding and Dr. Angie Cross. P.E.O. was formed in 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan University to enhance opportunities for women through scholarships, grants, and educational loans. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Greteman Center at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Judge Badding and Dr. Cross are scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. and will discuss growing up in Carroll County and the values they’ve held that helped them on their journey to success. Badding practiced law in Carroll County before being appointed a district court judge in 2019. She was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals just two years later. Cross is a trained chiropractor who now operates health and wellness clinics in Iowa and Arizona. There will be a brief Q&A following their presentation. Admission to tonight’s Dreams & Desserts is a free-will donation with all proceeds to support the Marian Vaatveit Memorial Scholarship, which provides educational funding to Carroll County women pursuing further education after high school.
