Janis Theodine Schroeder, 83, formerly of Carroll, died Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Boyson Heights Senior Living Community. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. John XXIII by Rev. Richmond Dzekoe. Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carroll. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Janis is survived by four daughters, Dawn (David) Deno of Bryan, TX, Nici (Pat) Davis of Cedar Rapids, Lucia (Dean) Riesberg of Carroll, Lori (Doug) Frericks of West Des Moines; two sons, Tony (Louise) Schroeder of Ludlow, VT, and Bill (Kelli) Schroeder of Kansas City, MO; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grand-children and brother-in-law Wayne Heithoff of Port Huron, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; grandson, Jonathan Deno; her parents, Joe and Josephine Hannasch; infant sister, Mary Hannasch; six brothers and sisters in-law and their spouses; and parents in-law, Lawrence and Evelyn Schroeder.
Janis was born on September 27, 1939 in Carroll, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Dirkx Hannasch. She graduated from Carroll Kuemper High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Iowa Beauty School in 1958. On June 6, 1959, she married William “Bill” Schroeder in Carroll. They were married for 60 years before his death in 2020. Janis worked as a pharmacy technician at multiple pharmacies throughout Iowa.
Janis was an avid award winning quilter and taught quilting classes to others. She also enjoyed reading and working puzzles. Janis’ Catholic faith was very important and she was able to minister and share her strong beliefs with her husband, Rev. Mr. Bill Schroeder, a parish deacon.
