Republican State Senator, Jason Schultz, Reelected As GOP Sweeps Races Statewide

Current District 9 Senator Jason Schultz will continue serving in the Iowa Legislature following his successful reelection bid on Tuesday night in the new Senate District 6. Following the approval of the updated maps during the 2021 Legislative Session, District 6 now includes all of Ida, Crawford, Carroll, Shelby, and Audubon Counties and a small portion of northeastern Pottawattamie County. Schultz won handily over Libertarian David Davis on Tuesday, collecting more than 80 percent of the 21,114 ballots cast for that particular race. Schultz has served in the state legislature for over a decade, including several terms in the Iowa House and Senate. He says every election is a reminder that elected officials are accountable to their constituents. He is grateful voters in the district were willing to put their faith in him.

The GOP holds significant majorities in the IA House and IA Senate. According to Schultz, those majorities, combined with Gov. Kim Reynolds’s successful reelection campaign, show Iowans are happy with how Republicans govern the state. He is anticipating a very busy 2023 Legislative Session with increased scrutiny on taxation in the state.

Schultz adds he and other Republicans are focused on insulating Iowa from the impact of what he considers poor policy out of Washington, D.C.

Carroll County’s other elected official at the statehouse, District 11 Representative Brian Best of Glidden, was uncontested in his reelection bid. Local results from Tuesday’s elections are available online at www.carrollbroadcasting.com and through the Carroll Broadcasting mobile app.
