More than 100 students from local school districts received a hands-on introduction to careers in healthcare through recent programs hosted by St. Anthony Regional Hospital. High schoolers from Carroll, Kuemper Catholic, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, Audubon, and East Sac County participated in St. Anthony’s “Learn and Experience” events, which walked students through a simulated scenario highlighting the various roles and equipment required to achieve quality patient outcomes. Education Services Director Katie Towers says, “Featured as part of the event was a simulation of an emergency trauma scenario, where the healthcare team worked together to assess, respond, and provide life-saving care to the manikin patient. In addition, students were able to try their hand at intubation, neonatal care, and giving quality CPR, all through the use of simulation equipment.” This was just the latest in the hospital’s career exploration opportunities. Students wanting additional experience are encouraged to apply for the St. Anthony Summer Intern Program, which includes pathways in clinical care, communications, finance, and information technology.
