Adeline Reicks formerly of Carroll

Adeline M Reicks, 104, died peacefully November 19, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Hospice House in Burlington, Iowa.  For the past two years she was living with her daughter, Diane Mahoney and son-in-law Stan in Burlington.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll.  The Celebrant will be Adeline’s son, Fr. Allan Reicks.  Concelebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter.  Assisting the Funeral Mass will be Deacon Tom Renze.  Music will be by Jane Heithoff and Adeline’s family.  Mass servers will be Mason Reicks and Logan Rial.  Gift Bearers will be Adeline’s great-grandchildren.  Casket Bearers will be Adeline’s grandchildren.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at Holy Spirit Church.  A rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. and visitation will continue until 1:15 p.m.

Born February 11, 1918, Adeline was the daughter of Joseph H and Ella (Ellen Hoelscher) Renze in Carroll County Iowa.  She married Larry J Reicks June 3, 1940, in Holy Angels Church, Roselle, Iowa.  They made their home in Carroll, purchasing the home of her grandparents, where she lived until 2 years ago.
For years Adeline worked as homemaker and receptionist/chief scheduler for her husband’s trucking and corn shelling business.
As a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Adeline was active in the Legion of Mary for many years, taking Communion and visiting the shut ins and “old people” until she gave up driving at 100 years of age.  She also volunteered at New Hope Village Store for more than 25 years.  She loved interacting with people, whether it was at Parish dinners, funerals, at daily Mass, or any of the meals she hosted in her home.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, son Jim, son-in-law Joe Johll (Gail), her parents, brothers Elmer, Gilbert, and Norbert.
Left to cherish her memory are her three brothers, LaVern of Avoca, IA, Cyril of Carroll, and Melvin of Manning.  Challenged to follow her example of faith and service are her children, Ron (Janella) of McAllen, TX, Fr. Allan of Carroll, Diane (Stan) Mahoney of Burlington, Gail Johll of Johnston, daughter-in-law Helen (Jim), 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
