Joe was born September 22, 1983, the oldest child of Dean and Aura Lee (Burkett) Sibenaller.  He grew up on the family farm south of Carroll and attended Carroll community schools, graduating in 2002.  Joe went on to study at DMACC and Iowa State University and spent many years with Hy-Vee Foods in Carroll and Ames where he made many life-long friends.
Joe was a kind soul, a caring son, and a protective big brother to his four younger siblings. From the day he was born he had a thirst for knowledge and a fighting spirit for whatever he believed in. Joe enjoyed history and geography and was an avid reader.  He was the family encyclopedia and knowledgeable about many things; often being called on for specific dates or random trivia.  We wish our time together had been longer, but we will always cherish the wonderful memories growing up together, the fun we had on family vacations, and time spent on the family farm.  Our family’s solace is knowing that he has joined our beloved mother, who he missed dearly.
Joe is survived by his father Dean of Carroll, brother Jordan (Stephanie) Sibenaller, sisters Erin (Darin) Hynick, Krystle (Allen) Hergert, Taylor (Jordan) Miller, along with 6 nieces and nephews who love him very much.  He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Aura Lee, maternal grandparents Kenneth and Sheila Burkett, paternal grandparents Dominic and Jacqueline Sibenaller.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. Mark Westberg and Dr. Justin Chau for fighting alongside Joe these past 6 years, as well as the staff at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital and University of Iowa Hospital for the compassionate care given to Joe.
