With Iowa’s first shotgun deer season opening tomorrow (Saturday), the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is putting out some last-minute reminders for hunters heading out to the field. DNR staff encourage hunters to ensure they have a valid hunting license, have paid their annual habitat fee, and double check they have the proper tag for the correct season. Iowa law requires a minimum of a 100-percent solid blaze orange vest. Harvests must be reported to the DNR by midnight the day after it is tagged or before taking them to a locker or taxidermist for processing. Shotgun season one runs from Saturday, Dec. 3 through Wednesday, Dec. 7. Second season begins Saturday, Dec. 10 and lasts until Sunday, Dec. 18. Learn more at www.iowadnr.gov.
