Carroll City Council Expected To Choose Finalists In City Manager Search Monday During Closed Session

The Carroll City Council convenes Monday for its second meeting in as many weeks. Interim City Manager Jeff Cayler says the upcoming holiday required officials to adjust their usual schedule.

According to Cayler, the Dec. 19 meeting has only a handful of items on the agenda, starting with a review of the third proposed change order for the ongoing Carroll Recreation Center improvement project.

The combined total of adjustments in Change Order #3 is $28,648. Cayler says progress continues on schedule and remains on track to reopen in late summer or early fall next year. Cayler says their attention will move to city property just west of the Rec Center concerning issues with the bridges at Graham Park.

Cayler adds the council is also looking at maintenance work on the Graham Park Bandshell, which could cost as much as $200,000 depending on which route they choose. The final items on Monday’s agenda are two closed sessions. The first is for negotiations with the city’s union employees, and the second is about the council’s search for a new city manager. Cayler says they held a separate closed session last week to review candidates, and the council is ready to begin choosing finalists.

City manager finalists will be announced in the coming weeks, and those candidates are scheduled to visit Carroll on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14 for in-person interviews and public panels. Monday’s meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall and is open to the public. It will also be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel. The full agenda and details on how to attend remotely can be found included with this story on our website.
