Carroll Public Library Launching New Youth Literacy Programs In 2023

The Carroll Public Library is introducing several programs to its lineup in January, and families with young children are encouraged to add these events to their calendars to get in on the fun. Children’s Librarian Diane Tracy says they are excited about a recent grant they received from Partnerships 4 Families to promote childhood interest in reading.

Tracy says they are continuing their early literacy programs on Jan. 14 with the relaunch of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative. It encourages young families to make reading a family activity, and Tracy says it makes an excellent New Year’s resolution.

She says this coincides with the introduction of the 500 Books Before Middle School Program to help kids maintain their reading habits into their teenage years. She adds the Dolly Parton Imagination Library finally made its way into Carroll County early this year. Tracy says Parton’s program provides a free book every month to children up to five years of age.
