Western Iowa Networks and their partner company, Aureon, made the rounds in the listening area earlier this week to award grants to three communities earlier this week. Aureon is a Des Moines-based company with a membership of 121 independent telecommunications companies. Their first stop on Tuesday was at Swan Lake State Park, where they awarded a $250 grant to the Education Center. Carroll County Naturalist Kristen Bieret says the funds will add new educational displays to the nature center.

Two other grants were also handed out Tuesday. The City of Arcadia received $500 for new outdoor musical instruments at the city park, and the Denison Parks and Recreation Department was awarded $1,000 for playground equipment at Washington Park.
