Progress On Proposed Lake View Community Center Continues With An Engineering Contract Approved

Progress on the proposed Lake View Community Center continues now that city officials approved an engineering contract earlier this week. Lake View Hometown Pride Committee President Brent Mueggenberg says the current committee has been working on the project for the past five years, with everything picking up steam the last couple of years. Mueggenberg says things have really started ramping up in the past couple of years.

Currently, the budget for the project is just over $1.6 million. According to Mueggenberg, over 70 percent of the project has been funded through grants and donations as of January. Mueggenberg says if people are interested in donating, several methods are available.

For more information on how to donate, individuals can reach out to Mueggenberg via email at Brent.mueggenber@gmail.com. At Monday’s city council meeting, an engineering contract was awarded to Beck engineering, Inc. out of Spirit Lake. The agreement allows them to prepare the final plans and solicit bids from contractors to implement rough grading, stormwater pollution prevention, and low-impact development on the site. The estimated cost of this phase of the project is $244,294. It is being funded through the Water Quality Initiative Program, Sac County Endowment Foundation, Black Hawk Lake Protective Association, and donations from private individuals and organizations. Site preparation is expected to start this year in late spring or early summer.
