JoAnn “Jo” Shields, age 84, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Regency Park in Carroll.
A private family graveside service will be held at later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.

Jo was born on February 6, 1939 in Council Bluffs, IA, and she was the daughter of Albert and Irma (Thiles) Pryor. She grew up in Dunlap where she graduated from high school. Jo was married to Jerry Shields on July 5, 1957 in Sioux City, IA. The couple lived in Dunlap until 1962. They moved to Carroll where she was a stay at home mom and Jerry worked construction. Jo and Jerry started Jerry’s Standard in 1968 and operated the business together until 2001. They loved their grandchildren, riding motorcycles, and traveling. Jo enjoyed gardening, talking to her friends on the phone, and having friends over for coffee.
Jo is survived by her husband Jerry of Carroll; four sons and their families: Terry Shields (Michele) of Spencer, Scott Shields (Carol) of Carroll, Mike Shields (Beth) of Chicago, and Bob Shields (Kim) of Carroll; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several other extended family members.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Irma Pryor.
