One person is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Audubon County over the weekend. According to law enforcement, the crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday on Lark Avenue about four miles south of Exira. Authorities say a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, operated by 52-year-old Stephen Joseph Smith of Adel, was northbound on Lark Avenue. when he lost control and entered the west ditch, where it rolled and came to rest on the roof facing south. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is currently under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
