Iowa’s Fourth Congressional Rep. Randy Feenstra visited Manning yesterday (Wednesday)to meet with local officials and community members. Feenstra says he was excited to return to Iowa from Washington, D.C., and explained the reasoning for his latest trip to Carroll County.
Feenstra says one thing he heard consistently from constituents, during his stop in Manning, is the long-term sustainability of rural healthcare providers.
Feenstra adds there was also a lot of discussion about rural broadband. Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Office of the Chief Information Office (OCIO) have been providing grants through Empower Rural Iowa to telecom companies for expanded internet access in rural Iowa. Feenstra says Manning is a model community for that program’s success.
Feenstra says agriculture was another topic brought up. Agriculture is the economic base for most rural communities in Iowa, and that’s why it remains a critical focus for him at home, and in D.C.
Feenstra adds it is exciting to see the great things happening in Manning, and it was one of his favorite Main Streets he has visited on his county tours.
