    Chester “Chet” Ivan Waldo, age 92, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Regency Park in Jefferson, IA.

      According to Chet’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Scranton Township Cemetery.  The Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton is in charge of arrangements.

     Chet was born on July 10, 1930 on his family’s farm near Scranton.  He was the son of George and Fern (Trimmer) Waldo.  Chet was a lifelong resident of Scranton.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1947 and served two years during the Korean Conflict.  He worked as a truck driver, farmer, and dairy producer over the years.  Chet was married to Betty Kepple on January 16, 1952, at the First United Methodist Church in Scranton by Rev. Blackman. The couple lived in Kendrick and Cedar Township where they farmed.  Chet enjoyed going to coffee with his friends in Ralston.

     Chet is survived by a son, Jack Ivan Waldo (Luann) of Panora; two daughters: Barbara Waldo of Denison and Sue Conroy of Jamaica; four grandchildren: Mindy Palmer, Jenny Conroy, Meri (Jay) Calvert and Rachel Waldo; five great grandchildren: Allison (Mike) Shemwell, Brock (Katelyn) Louk, Cali and Raelyn Knudsen and Everleigh Calvert; two great-great grandchildren: Mackynlee and Decklyn Shemwell; other relatives and friends.

     Chet was preceded in death by his wife Betty; parents George and Fern Waldo; two sisters: Gertrude “Gertie” Wright and Gladys Byerly; and a grandson Jacob Waldo.
