Storm Lake Woman Faces Felony Charge For Attacking Man With Metal Pipe

A Storm Lake woman faces multiple charges in connection to an alleged assault last Friday. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. on March 3 for a belated assault report. The victim told law enforcement a female subject had attacked him earlier in the evening using a metal pole. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Maria Guadalupe Cervantes-Alvarez, attacked the victim with a metal pole during an argument, bit them on the arm, and damaged personal property and a vehicle during the incident. Law enforcement arrested Cervantes-Alvarez and booked her into the Buena Vista County jail for willful injury, a class D felony, assault with a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal mischief, a simple misdemeanor. As of this (Monday) morning, Cervantes-Alvarez remains in custody on an $8,300 bond.
