The Carroll Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet last night (Monday), and staff and community leaders laid out their vision to make 2023 a transformative year for Carroll and the surrounding area. Chamber President Dr. Nathan Lueth shared some insight from U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Suzzane Clark, who described the nation’s economy as solid but fragile during her State of American Business Address earlier this year. That concern is also felt by many of our local communities and businesses. However, Lueth says Carroll has a history of being a leader when it comes to facing challenges.
He says now is a transformational time for Carroll, and the Chamber and Carroll County Growth Partnership plan to adjust to those changes. The theme for the 2023 banquet was “Meaningful Connections,” and Chamber and CCGP Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler says that motto drives almost everything she and her staff do.
She says those connections are already bearing fruit. The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) has identified Carroll as an ideal location for a start-up accelerator, which ties directly into the Chamber/CCGP’s existing plans to launch Hub712 to help entrepreneurs open and develop new businesses. CCGP President Mike Franey says the people involved in the Chamber and CCGP are indelibly linked to the region’s success and give of their time and treasure to see Carroll prosper.
Each year, the Chamber also presents its annual awards. The 2023 recipients include: Citizen of the Year, Matt Greteman; Humanitarian, Pat and Allie Tigges; Heritage Business, Dawn and Woodhouse Funeral Home; New Business, Journey Senior Living; and two Public Service Awards, Rod Roberts and Sharon Olerich. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from them in upcoming newscasts.
